Psalm 1:1-3, The Message
How well God must like you—
you don’t walk in the ruts of those blind-as-bats,
you don’t stand with the good-for-nothings,
you don’t take your seat among the know-it-alls.
Instead you thrill to God’s Word,
you chew on Scripture day and night.
You’re a tree replanted in Eden,
bearing fresh fruit every month,
Never dropping a leaf,
always in blossom.
Reflection Questions
- What do you love about trees?
- In what ways can you become a tree planted by streams of water? What nourishment do you need? What kind of fruit can you bear for the benefit of others?
Prayer
Jesus, our Living Water,
cause us to be like trees
planted near the River of life,
putting down deep roots,
providing shade and relief to others,
bearing fruit for the healing of the world.
May we join Your Spirit in building
beautiful, diverse gardens of hope
all around us.
Amen.
