Our Mission & Values

Anchor & Hope exists

for connection to God
in the way of Jesus and to each other,
for integration of our whole selves
in our life of faith,
and for hope & healing for the world.

We are shaped by the following core values

Belovedness

“We love because God first loved us.”1 John 4:19

We believe the first word is love. Belovedness is how we understand ourselves and others as created & seen by God.

Hopefulness

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”Isaiah 40:31

We hold fast to the hope of Jesus, and offer this hope to the world around us. God has not given up on the world, and neither have we.

Faith

“The person who wins out over the world’s ways is simply the one who believes Jesus is the Son of God.”1 John 5:5

We trust in the Spirit, who enables us to take holy risks. A life of faith is open to God and to others.

Inclusion

“Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” — Romans 15:7

We are a community of welcome & relationships, trust & care, and openness to our neighbors near and far.

Creativity

“For we are the product of His hand, heaven’s poetry etched on lives, created in the Anointed, Jesus, to accomplish the good works God arranged long ago.” — Ephesians 2:10

We are called to co-create a world of shalom, justice, and joy alongside God & each other.

Whole-Life Formation

“(There is now) Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of God’s face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.” — 2 Corinthians 3:18

We are called to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength — and to be formed in the way of Jesus in every area of our lives through participation, learning, and integration.

Family

“God sets the lonely in families.” — Psalm 68:6

Because of Jesus’ transforming love, we become extended family to one another — we show up for each other through presence & care in joyful, sacrificial ways. We are an intergenerational church, connecting one generation to the next.
