Centering Practice

During this season of Eastertide, we’ll be exploring the Good News of Jesus’ resurrection for all of God’s creation

  • Begin by closing our eyes and taking several slow, deep breaths
  • Take a moment to imagine yourself somewhere in God’s creation: what do you see, hear, smell?
  • Take a moment to ask for the protection and care of God and God’s people for that place

Call to Worship

Let us worship God, who makes all things new.
We praise God, our Good Shepherd,
who leads us and restores our souls.

The Lord is good to all, slow to anger and rich in love.
Let every creature praise God’s holy name,
forever and ever. Amen.

Worship Songs

My Hallelujah

Open up the doors again
Let the King of glory in
His Kingdom will never end
Oh, I know that You are good

Break the darkness with the light
All the earth let praise arise
Every dead place come alive
Oh, I know that You are good
Oh, I know that You are good

You will have my hallelujah
You alone the highest name
All to You I surrender
Every breath I take
Make my life Your praise

Oh, Spirit of the Living God
Fire burning in my heart
I’m wide awake to who You are
Oh, I know that You are good
Oh, I know that You are good

You are my strength when I am weak
You are my sight when I can’t see
As praise goes up, I believe
The walls are coming down

Oh, when I was lost, You rescued me
When I was bound, You set me free
As praise goes up, I believe
The walls are coming down

Wonderful Maker

You spread out the skies
over empty space
Said, “Let there be light”
Into a dark and formless world
Your light was born

You spread out Your arms
over empty hearts
Said, “Let there be light”
Into a dark and hopeless world
Your Son was born

You made the world
and saw that it was good
You sent Your only Son
for You are good

What a wonderful Maker
What a wonderful Savior
How majestic Your whispers
And how humble Your love

With a strength like no other
And the heart of a Father
How majestic Your whispers
What a wonderful God

No eye has fully seen
how beautiful the cross
And we have only heard
The faintest whispers of
how great You are

You made the world
and saw that it was good
You sent Your only Son
for You are good

Prayer of Confession

Risen Lord,
You are the vine; we are the branches.
You are our hope and the source of all wisdom.

For our lack of care and concern;
for the ways we disconnect from You and from others;
Forgive us, O God, we pray:

— Moment of silent prayer —

O Lord, Your word foretells a day
when the wolf will lie down with the lamb.
Renew our vision for the peaceable kingdom,
for the thriving of all creation. Amen.

Assurance of God’s Love

Prayers of the People

After each phrase, the congregation will reply with one voice:
Lord, have mercy.

For those suffering from violence, hatred, and war…

For Your creation, groaning under the weight of waste & sin…

For the Church worldwide, to bear faithful witness
to the love & grace of Christ…

For ourselves and our loved ones who are facing health challenges or illness…

For our friends who need to know Your love
and the friendship of our Anchor & Hope community…

Amen.

Worship Song

Canvas & Clay

In my mother’s womb
You formed me with Your hands
Known and loved by You
Before I took a breath

When I doubt it, Lord, remind me
I’m wonderfully made
You’re an artist and a potter
I’m the canvas and the clay

You make all things work together
For my future and for my good
You make all things work together
For Your glory and for Your name

There’s a healing light
Just beyond the clouds
Though I’ve walked through fire
I see clearly now

I know nothing has been wasted
No failure or mistake
You’re an artist and a potter
I’m the canvas and the clay

Scripture Reading

1 The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it,
the world, and those who live in it,

2 for he has founded it on the seas and established it on the rivers.

3 Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
And who shall stand in his holy place?

4 Those who have clean hands and pure hearts,
who do not lift up their souls to what is false and do not swear deceitfully.

5 They will receive blessing from the Lord
and vindication from the God of their salvation.

6 Such is the company of those who seek him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Selah

7 Lift up your heads, O gates! and be lifted up, O ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in!

8 Who is the King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty,
the Lord, mighty in battle.

9 Lift up your heads, O gates! and be lifted up, O ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in!

10 Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts,
he is the King of glory. Selah

Reader: This is the Word of the Lord.
Together: Thanks be to God.

Worship Song

Have My Heart / Here’s My Heart

Here’s my heart Lord
Here’s my heart Lord
Here’s my heart Lord
Speak what is true

You love with no reservations
You’re not looking for perfection
And there’s no need in me pretending
I’ll give You everything
I’ll give You everything

You deserve my full attention
Nothing less than my devotion
Oh, speak to me and I will listen
I’ll give You everything
I’ll give You everything

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
You can have my heart
You can have my heart

Be the Lord of my emotions
Set me free from selfish motives
And search me ’til there’s nothing hidden
And I’ll give You everything
Yes, I’ll give You everything

My heart is Yours forever
My heart is Yours forever

Benediction
