The Sixth Sunday of Easter

Centering Practice

We invite you to slow down, breathe, and connect with God, each other, and yourself. Today, as we are led by youth & young adults in worship and as we host Art & Faith camp, we are reminded of all the ways God connects us.

  • Clapping in rhythm together
  • Sing God is So Good together

Call to Worship

Adapted from the Brief Statement of Faith

In life and in death, we belong to God.
Through the transforming grace of our risen Lord,

the steadfast love of God,
and the faithful presence of the Holy Spirit,

We are brought from darkness into light,
called to live and share the resurrection.
Amen.

Worship Song

Hosanna (Praise is Rising)

Praise is rising,
Eyes are turning to You
We turn to You

Hope is stirring,
Hearts are yearning for You
We long for You

‘Cause when we see You
We find strength to face the day
In Your Presence all our fears
Are washed away
Washed away

Hosanna, hosanna
You are the God who saves us
Worthy of all our praises

Hosanna, hosanna
Come have Your way among us
We welcome You here Lord, Jesus

Hear the sound of
Hearts returning to You
We turn to You

In Your kingdom
Broken lives are made new
You make us new

Prayer of Confession

Our God who builds bridges,
As we consider Your amazing world,
we are grateful for Your creativity and love.

For the times we choose selfishness;
In the ways we tear down instead of build up;
When we dishonor You by harming others;
Forgive us, O God, we pray:

— Moment of silent prayer —

O God,
May Your face shine upon us again;
May Your ways be known in our world
as we follow Your call to create peace.
Amen.

Prayers of the People

Anchor & Hope is an intergenerational church! Today is a special day for our NextGen ministries — youth & young adults leading worship, Art & Faith Camp after service today. Today’s Prayers of the People will be really simple: Each of our older adults in our church will partner up with one NextGen student and pray a simple blessing over them!

Worship Song

The Heart of Worship

When the music fades
All is stripped away
And I simply come

Longing just to bring
Something that’s of worth
That will bless Your heart

I’ll bring You more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required

You search much deeper within
Through the ways things appear
You’re looking into my heart

I’m coming back to the heart of worship
And it’s all about You
It’s all about You, Jesus

I’m sorry, Lord, for the thing I’ve made it
When it’s all about You
It’s all about You, Jesus

King of endless worth
No one could express
How much You deserve?

Though I’m weak and poor
All I have is Yours
Every single breath

Scripture Reading

John 15:5-8

5 (Jesus said) I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. 6 Whoever does not abide in me is thrown away like a branch and withers; such branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7 If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.

Reader: This is the Word of the Lord.
Together: Thanks be to God.

The Season of Easter: Abiding in Christ

Pastor David with Elle Kim & Toby Cho

Faith & Art!

  • Draw a tree on the paper provided and list out things you feel like you are rooted in.
  • Think about things that take up your time, good or bad, and draw those as branches on a tree.
  • After, think about the fruit that those branches provide, good or bad.
  • This is not an exercise in shame or self criticism, but a chance for reflection and taking an inventory on the things that we give our time and energy to!

Worship Song

Build My Life

Worthy of every song we could ever sing
Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe
We live for You

Jesus, the Name above every other name
Jesus, the only One who could ever save
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe
We live for You, we live for You

Holy, there is no one like You
There is none beside You
Open up my eyes in wonder

And show me who You are
And fill me with Your heart
And lead me in Your love
To those around me

I will build my life upon Your love
It is a firm foundation
I will put my trust in You alone
And I will not be shaken

Benediction
