The Seventh Sunday of Easter

Centering Practice

We invite you to slow down, breathe, and connect with God, each other, and yourself.

  • Slow down your breathing for 3 deep breaths
  • Open your hands as a symbol of openness to resurrection hope & possibility

Call to Worship

Adapted from the Brief Statement of Faith

In life and in death, we belong to God.
Through the transforming grace of our risen Lord,

the steadfast love of God,
and the faithful presence of the Holy Spirit,

We are brought from darkness into light,
called to live and share the resurrection.
Amen.

Worship Songs

My Hallelujah

Open up the doors again
Let the King of glory in
His Kingdom will never end
Oh, I know that You are good

Break the darkness with the light
All the earth let praise arise
Every dead place come alive
Oh, I know that You are good
Oh, I know that You are good

You will have my hallelujah
You alone the highest name
All to You I surrender
Every breath I take
Make my life Your praise

Oh, Spirit of the Living God
Fire burning in my heart
I’m wide awake to who You are
Oh, I know that You are good
Oh, I know that You are good

You are my strength when I am weak
You are my sight when I can’t see
As praise goes up, I believe
The walls are coming down

Oh, when I was lost, You rescued me
When I was bound, You set me free
As praise goes up, I believe
The walls are coming down

Open Space w Hosanna tag

Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes
to the things unseen
Show me how to love like You
have loved me

Break my heart for what breaks Your
Everything I am
for Your Kingdom’s cause
As I walk from earth into eternity

Pull me in closer
Close to Your heart
May I be a pure reflection of all You are

Love that is patient
Love that is kind
And love that keeps no offences
or wrongs in my mind

Make me like Jesus
Make me like Jesus

You’re faithful to find me
Right where I am
Though even in my wandering You call me friend

And mercy receives me
and lifts me to my feet
And I’m caught up in the wonder and mystery

Of knowing Jesus
Of knowing Jesus

My heart is an open space
for You to come and have Your way
I’m open, I’m open

Hosanna, Hosanna
Hosanna in the highest

Prayer of Confession

Risen Lord,
Thank You for the mystery and mercy
of Your life, death, and resurrection.

Make us one in mission and love,
joined together to Your heart.
Hear us, O God, we pray:

— Moment of silent prayer —

Transform our hearts, O God,
with Your amazing grace and love,
so that our relationships and Your world
are transformed as well.
Amen.

  • Thank you! Thanks to Ann Leong and all our volunteers for leading our Art & Faith Camp, and to our youth & young adults who helped lead our intergenerational worship service last week!
  • Church Without Walls: We will have a CWOW gathering in 2 weeks on Sunday, June 15th at 10:30 am at Miramar Overlook Park (Scripps Ranch Blvd just north of Mira Mesa Blvd). A picnic lunch will be provided.
  • Reset Sunday: June is a month with 5 Sundays — on June 29th, we will not gather together for worship but, instead, encourage you to connect with God, others, and yourselves out in the the world. A worship guide will be sent out that week!
  • Church Retreat: We will have our church retreat on September 20th and 21st (Saturday and Sunday). We’ll be in town at Marina Village. More details to come, but please block off those dates on your calendars!
  • Prayer of Blessing: Pastor David & Cierra will be living in Visalia for the next year while Cierra completes her grad program. They will stay connected to our church community! Let’s pray for this next chapter of life and ministry as they navigate tons of change.

Worship Song

Make Room

And I’ll make room for You
To do whatever You want to
To do whatever You want to

Here is where I lay it down
Every burden, every crown
This is my surrender
This is my surrender

Shake up the ground of all my tradition
Break down the walls of all my religion
Lord, Your way is better
Your way is better

Scripture Reading

John 17:20-26

20 (Jesus said) “I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 The glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one, as we are one, 23 I in them and you in me, that they may become completely one, so that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. 24 Father, I desire that those also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory, which you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.25 “Righteous Father, the world does not know you, but I know you; and these know that you have sent me. 26 I made your name known to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”

Reader: This is the Word of the Lord.
Together: Thanks be to God.

Worship Song

Let Us Be Known

Let us be known by our love
In every word, in every deed
Honor the Son

Let our light shine in every eye
Let us be known by our love

For the glory of our Savior
For the glory of our God
For the glory of the Spirit
Let us be known by our love

Let us be known by our joy
In every home, in every heart
Sing to the Lord

Let our lives show goodness and hope
Let us be known by our joy

For the glory of our Savior
For the glory of our God
For the glory of the Spirit
Let us be known by our joy

Let us be known by our peace
In every town, in every tribe
Jesus is King

Let us go forth, heal and restore
Let us be known by our peace

For the glory of our Savior
For the glory of our God
For the glory of the Spirit
Let us be known by our peace

For the glory of our Savior
For the glory of our God
For the glory of the Spirit
Let us be known by our love
