Church Anniversary & Epiphany

Centering Practice

We invite you to slow down, breathe, and connect with God, each other, and yourself. Begin by closing our eyes and taking several slow, deep breaths.

  • Faith is like a seed that grows into something beautiful. As we begin to enter a new year, we’ll invite you to a few embodied motions:
  • Breathe in and hold your hands to your heart, imagining that you’re holding a seed of faith
  • Now, breathe in and hold your hands out, imagining that it’s beginning to grow (with the rain and sun and care it needs to flourish)
  • Finally, breathe in and hold your arms outward, imagining that the seed has become a tall, powerful, beautiful tree!

Call to Worship

In Jesus, the grace of God has appeared,
bringing salvation to all.

Like those who followed the star,
We come to seek Christ today.

With our whole heart we proclaim:
Glory to God in the highest! Amen

Worship Songs

Hosanna (Praise is Rising)

Praise is rising,
Eyes are turning to You
We turn to You

Hope is stirring,
Hearts are yearning for You
We long for You

‘Cause when we see You
We find strength to face the day
In Your Presence all our fears
Are washed away
Washed away

Hosanna, hosanna
You are the God who saves us
Worthy of all our praises

Hosanna, hosanna
Come have Your way among us
We welcome You here Lord, Jesus

Hear the sound of
Hearts returning to You
We turn to You

In Your kingdom
Broken lives are made new
You make us new

Mercies (New Every Morning)

In brokenness and wandering
Through all my fear and unbelief
Your faithfulness appears to me again

Through mountain top and valley low
In every season, this I know
Your goodness, like the dawn, will break again

All Your mercies rising
In this heart again
And my soul begins to sing

They are new every morning
New every morning
Great is Your faithfulness
Your mercies are new every morning
New every morning
Great is Your faithfulness

Every good and perfect gift
In Your endless grace You give
Flowing from the Father’s heart to mine

Beams of heaven as I go
Through this wilderness below
The fullness of Your love for all of time

Prayer of Confession

God of light and life,
Your love is beyond imagination
and Your presence is always with us.

Heal us through Your grace;
Make us faithful witnesses of Your love;
Hear us, O God, we pray:

— Moment of silent prayer —

As the new year begins,
Renew us by Your Spirit,
for the life of the world around us. Amen.

Assurance of God’s Love

Prayers of the People

After each phrase, let’s pray out loud: “Lord, have mercy”

For those suffering from violence, hatred, and war,
especially children around the world…

For the emotional, spiritual, physical, and relational
healing of ourselves and our loved ones…

For our neighbors in Mira Mesa & San Diego
to know Jesus’ love through us…

For our global siblings in Christ, especially those
who suffer because of their faith in You…

For the Church worldwide to be faithful witnesses
of Your justice, mercy, and love…

Amen.

Worship Song

You Hold It All Together

Our hope is in You God
We are steadfast
We will not be moved

We’re anchored, never shaken
All our hope is You

You come at the right time
When I least expect it
Never behind

So why would I be surprised
When You deliver every time

On mountaintops, You stay the same
In valleys low, You never change

And I believe that I will see
The goodness of the Lord
I’m confident as seasons change
Your faithfulness remains

You go, You go before me
To prepare a blessing
You madе a way

It’s more than I could imagine
More than I can fathom
Or comprehend

God of our present
God of our future
You write our story
You hold it all together

And we believe that we will see
The goodness of the Lord
We’re confident as seasons change
Your faithfulness remains

Scripture Reading

Hebrews 6:19

19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.

This is the Word of the Lord.
Together: Thanks be to God.

Deeper Hope

Worship Song

Cornerstone

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus name

When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil

Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong; in the Savior’s love
Through the storm, He is Lord
Lord of all

His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my hope and stay
He then is all my hope and stay

When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh, may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless stand before the throne

Benediction
