Centering Practice

We invite you to slow down, breathe, and connect with God, each other, and yourself. Begin by taking a couple of slow, deep breaths.

  • Today, we’re going to be exploring healing through rhythm so let’s spend some time centering through box breathing.
  • Let’s take a moment to sit up tall, close our eyes, and greet the Spirit’s presence in worship.
  • Take a moment to push all the air out of your lungs
    • Inhale through your nose for a count of four
    • Hold your breath for a count of for a count of four
    • Exhale for a count of four
    • Hold for a count of four
  • Take some time to go through these four steps of box breathing at your own pace a couple of times, remembering that the Holy Spirit is filling you too.

Call to Worship

Based on Isaiah 2:5, Psalm 122:1

O house of Jacob, people of God come,
let us walk in the light of the Lord!

I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord!”

Let us worship and walk in step
with our God today! Amen.

Worship Songs

Sound of Adoration

When we were lost ones
You were the Shepherd that carried us home
When we were prodigals
You ran to meet us with open arms
And we can’t hold back our praise

When we were refugees
You were the One who took us in
When we were enemies
You paid the price for all our sin
And we can’t hold back our praise

This is the sound of adoration
Oh, how we love You
Jesus, we love You

You are the joy of all creation
Oh, how we love You
Jesus, we love You

You are the Risen One
You conquered death and made a way
You sang our freedom song
Now we are dancing on our chains
And we can’t hold back our praise

By the cross, I am free
Your grace changes everything
I was blind, now I see
Your grace changes everything

You Hold It All Together

Our hope is in You God
We are steadfast
We will not be moved

We’re anchored, never shaken
All our hope is You

You come at the right time
When I least expect it
Never behind

So why would I be surprised
When You deliver every time

On mountaintops, You stay the same
In valleys low, You never change

And I believe that I will see
The goodness of the Lord
I’m confident as seasons change
Your faithfulness remains

You go, You go before me
To prepare a blessing
You madе a way

It’s more than I could imagine
More than I can fathom
Or comprehend

God of our present
God of our future
You write our story
You hold it all together

And we believe that we will see
The goodness of the Lord
We’re confident as seasons change
Your faithfulness remains

Prayer of Confession

Gracious God, source of all life,
Lord of mercy and grace,
Hear our prayer.

We come before You in need of healing:
Of our bodies and souls, of relationships,
Of our pride and fear and apathy.

We confess our shortcomings, weakness & need;
Knowing You love, heal, and forgive us.
Hear us, O Lord, we pray:

— Moment of silent prayer —

We know that with You, nothing is impossible,
Not even our healing,
Not even the restoration of the whole world.

We pray that You will heal us,
That You will heal our world,

So that we will be freed
To serve and love and dream and be,
As Christ calls us. Amen.

Assurance of God’s Love

Prayers of the People

Eternal God,
Upon all who are sick, grant Your healing;

To the lonely, Your loving presence;
To the weak, Your strengthening power.

For those who mourn, Your comfort;
And for all, Your forgiveness in Christ,
through whom we pray:

— Moment of silent prayer —

God of healing,
Into our fractured lives & souls,
bring warmth, wholeness, and restoration.
Amen.

Worship Song

Cornerstone

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus name

When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil

Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong; in the Savior’s love
Through the storm, He is Lord
Lord of all

His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my hope and stay
He then is all my hope and stay

When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh, may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless stand before the throne

Scripture Reading

Matthew 9:2-8

2 And some people were carrying to him a paralyzed man lying on a stretcher. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Take heart, child; your sins are forgiven.” 3 Then some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man is blaspheming.” 4 But Jesus, perceiving their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? 5 For which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Stand up and walk’? 6 But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he then said to the paralytic—“Stand up, take your bed, and go to your home.” 7 And he stood up and went to his home. 8 When the crowds saw it, they were filled with awe, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to human beings.

This is the Word of the Lord.
Together: Thanks be to God.

Worship Song

Everything

God in my living, there in my breathing
God in my waking, God in my sleeping

God in my resting, there in my working
God in my thinking, God in my speaking

Be my everything… be my everything…
Be my everything… be my everything…

God in my hoping, there in my dreaming
God in my watching, God in my waiting

God in my laughing, there in my weeping
God in my hurting, God in my healing

Christ in me, Christ in me
Christ in me, the hope of glory
You are everything

Christ in me, Christ in me
Christ in me, the hope of glory
Be my everything… be my everything…
