Worship Song
My Hallelujah
Open up the doors again
Let the King of glory in
His Kingdom will never end
Oh, I know that You are goodBreak the darkness with the light
All the earth let praise arise
Every dead place come alive
Oh, I know that You are good
Oh, I know that You are goodYou will have my hallelujah
You alone the highest name
All to You I surrender
Every breath I take
Make my life Your praiseOh, Spirit of the Living God
Fire burning in my heart
I’m wide awake to who You are
Oh, I know that You are good
Oh, I know that You are goodYou are my strength when I am weak
You are my sight when I can’t see
As praise goes up, I believe
The walls are coming downOh, when I was lost, You rescued me
When I was bound, You set me free
As praise goes up, I believe
The walls are coming down

Prayers of the People
The “one anothers” of Scripture teach us how to love one another in our church and to offer hope to all people. We will read aloud a “one another” from the Bible and hold a moment of silent prayer:
We pray together, with one another, that we would:
Follow Jesus’ commandment,
to love one another as Christ loves us…
(John 15:12)Welcome one another,
just as Christ has welcomed us…
(Romans 15:7)Be kind and tenderhearted to one another,
as God in Christ is to us…
(Ephesians 4:32)Bear one another’s burdens,
fulfilling the law of Christ…
(Galatians 6:2)Always seek to do good to one another
and to all in the name of Jesus…
(1 Thessalonians 5:15)Amen.

Build My Life
Worthy of every song we could ever sing
Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe
We live for YouJesus, the Name above every other name
Jesus, the only One who could ever save
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe
We live for You, we live for YouHoly, there is no one like You
There is none beside You
Open up my eyes in wonderAnd show me who You are
And fill me with Your heart
And lead me in Your love
To those around meI will build my life upon Your love
It is a firm foundation
I will put my trust in You alone
And I will not be shaken
Scripture Reading
1 Peter 4:7-11
7 The end of all things is near; therefore be serious and discipline yourselves for the sake of your prayers. 8 Above all, maintain constant love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins. 9 Be hospitable to one another without complaining. 10 Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. 11 Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

Scripture Reading
Psalm 145
1 I will extol you, my God and King,
and bless your name forever and ever.2 Every day I will bless you
and praise your name forever and ever.3 Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised;
his greatness is unsearchable.4 One generation shall extol your works to another
and shall declare your mighty acts.5 They will recount the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and on your wondrous works I will meditate.6 They will proclaim the might of your awesome deeds,
and I will declare your greatness.7 They shall celebrate the fame of your abundant goodness
and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.8 The Lord is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.9 The Lord is good to all,
and his compassion is over all that he has made.10 All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord,
and all your faithful shall bless you.11 They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom
and tell of your power,12 to make known to all people your mighty deeds
and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures throughout all generations
The Lord is faithful in all his words
and gracious in all his deeds.14 The Lord upholds all who are falling
and raises up all who are bowed down.15 The eyes of all look to you,
and you give them their food in due season.16 You open your hand,
satisfying the desire of every living thing.17 The Lord is just in all his ways
and kind in all his doings.18 The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.19 He fulfills the desire of all who fear him;
he also hears their cry and saves them.20 The Lord watches over all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.21 My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
and all flesh will bless his holy name forever and ever.Reader: This is the Word of the Lord.

Send the Rain
Lord, we come to You
Now with open hands
Broken lives and dreams
Washed up on the sandWe’ve been beaten down
But still we choose to stand
We choose to standLord, we long for You
For Your hand to move
Heal this barren land
Come and make it newJesus, You’re the life
That is breaking through
You’re breaking throughThe saints of old in ancient days
They worked the ground
that we reap from todaySo use our hands to cultivate
The harvest that
our children’s children taste
We’re ready God, so send the rainLord, we’ll follow You
To unbroken earth
On the path not used
Where new hope is birthedWe will work as one
Holding to Your truth
To Your truthHeal the ruined cities
We destroyed with our own hands
Bring us back together
Let us see the promised landPour out Your Spirit
On this dry and thirsty ground
O God of the harvest
Could it be right here and now
Could it be right here and nowOpen up the heavens,
let Your rain fall down
We are thirsty, we are thirsty

Sound of Adoration
When we were lost ones
You were the Shepherd that carried us home
When we were prodigals
You ran to meet us with open arms
And we can’t hold back our praiseWhen we were refugees
You were the One who took us in
When we were enemies
You paid the price for all our sin
And we can’t hold back our praiseThis is the sound of adoration
Oh, how we love You
Jesus, we love YouYou are the joy of all creation
Oh, how we love You
Jesus, we love YouYou are the Risen One
You conquered death and made a way
You sang our freedom song
Now we are dancing on our chains
And we can’t hold back our praiseBy the cross, I am free
Your grace changes everything
I was blind, now I see
Your grace changes everything
Here For You
Let our praise be Your welcome
Let our songs be a sign
We are here for You, we are here for YouLet Your breath come from heaven
Fill our hearts with Your life
We are here for You, we are here for YouTo You our hearts are open
Nothing here is hidden
You are our one desireYou alone are holy
Only You are worthy

Scripture Reading
1 Corinthians 9:19-23
19 For though I am free with respect to all, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I might gain all the more. 20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to gain Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though I myself am not under the law) so that I might gain those under the law. 21 To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (though I am not outside God’s law but am within Christ’s law) so that I might gain those outside the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, so that I might gain the weak. I have become all things to all people, that I might by all means save some. 23 I do it all for the sake of the gospel, so that I might become a partner in it.

Prayers of the People
Presider:
It helps, now and then,
to step back and take a long view.
The Kingdom is not only beyond our efforts,
it is even beyond our vision. We accomplish in our lifetime
only a tiny fraction of the magnificent enterprise
that is God’s work.Nothing we do is complete,
which is a way of saying
that the Kingdom always lies beyond us.No statement says all that could be said.
No prayer fully expresses our faith.
No confession brings perfection. No pastoral visit brings wholeness.
No program accomplishes the Church’s mission.
No set of goals and objectives includes everything.Together:
This is what we are about.
We plant the seeds that one day will grow.
We water seeds already planted,
knowing that they hold future promise. We lay foundations that will need
further development.
We provide yeast that produces
far beyond our capabilities. We cannot do everything,
and there is a sense of liberation in realizing that.
This enables us to do something,
and to do it very well.It may be incomplete, but it is a beginning,
a step along the way, an opportunity
for the Lord’s grace to enter and do the rest.We may never see the end results,
but that is the difference between
the master builder and the worker.We are workers, not master builders;
ministers, not messiahs.
We are prophets
of a future not our own.
Amen.

You hold it all together
Scripture Reading
2 Timothy 4:1-5 (First Nations Version)
When the Chosen One appears, he will decide the fate of the living and the dead and bring his good road to us in all its fullness. In light of these things and in the sight of the Great Spirit and Creator Sets Free (Jesus) the Chosen One. I call on you to complete the sacred task of making his message known! Be ready whether the time seems right or not. Patiently instruct others. Give strong counsel, warnings, and firm words to strengthen their hearts. For a day will come when people will not listen to good teaching. They will gather around themselves to teachers who will tell them what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and believe made-up stories.
But you must remain clear-minded in every way, stand strong in hard times, and do the work of a good storyteller. Keep doing what Creator has called on you to do.
Reader: This is the Word of the Lord.
Together: Thanks be to God.

Scripture Reading
Matthew 22:34-40
34 When the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together, 35 and one of them, an expert in the law, asked him a question to test him. 36 “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” 37 He said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

Scripture Reading
2 Timothy 1:1-7
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, for the sake of the promise of life that is in Christ Jesus,
2 To Timothy, my beloved child:
Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.3 I am grateful to God—whom I worship with a clear conscience, as my ancestors did—when I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day. 4 Recalling your tears, I long to see you so that I may be filled with joy. 5 I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that lived first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, lives in you. 6 For this reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands, 7 for God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline.

Send the Rain

Now with open hands

Washed up on the sandWe’ve been beaten down
But still we choose to stand
We choose to standLord, we long for You
For Your hand to move
Heal this barren land
Come and make it newJesus, You’re the life
That is breaking through

They worked the ground
that we reap from todaySo use our hands to cultivate
The harvest that
our children’s children taste
We’re ready God, so send the rainLord, we’ll follow You
To unbroken earth
On the path not used
Where new hope is birthedWe will work as one
Holding to Your truth
To Your truthHeal the ruined cities
We destroyed with our own hands

Scripture Reading
Luke 14:15-24
15 When one of those at the table with him heard this, he said to Jesus, “Blessed is the one who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.”
16 Jesus replied: “A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. 17 At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’
18 “But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’
19 “Another said, ‘I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.’
20 “Still another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’
21 “The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’
22 “‘Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.’
23 “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full. 24 I tell you, not one of those who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.’”
Isaiah 2:3-5
3 Many peoples will come and say,
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the temple of the God of Jacob.
He will teach us his ways,
so that we may walk in his paths.”
The law will go out from Zion,
the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.4 He will judge between the nations
and will settle disputes for many peoples.
They will beat their swords into plowshares
and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not take up sword against nation,
nor will they train for war anymore.5 Come, descendants of Jacob,
let us walk in the light of the Lord.Reader: This is the Word of the Lord.

Canvas & Clay
In my mother’s womb
You formed me with Your hands
Known and loved by You
Before I took a breathWhen I doubt it, Lord, remind me
I’m wonderfully made
You’re an artist and a potter
I’m the canvas and the clayYou make all things work together
For my future and for my good
You make all things work together
For Your glory and for Your nameThere’s a healing light
Just beyond the clouds
Though I’ve walked through fire
I see clearly nowI know nothing has been wasted
No failure or mistake
You’re an artist and a potter
I’m the canvas and the clay

After each phrase, let’s pray out loud: “Lord, have mercy”
For those suffering from violence, hatred, and war, especially children…
For all of creation, groaning under the weight of sin and waste…
For the emotional, spiritual, physical, and relational
healing of ourselves and our loved ones…For our friends who need to know Your love
and the friendship of our Anchor & Hope community…For our retreat and every time we gather to be
a meaningful time of transformation, hope & dreaming…For the Church worldwide to act justly, to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with You…Amen.

Kingdom Come
God, let Your kingdom come
May Your will be done
God, let Your kingdom comeEarth is groaning and we are longing
For Your kingdom to come
All creation and all of heaven
Join their voices as oneHope is stirring, joy arising
As we look to the day
When all injustice will bow
And every voice will cry out
Holy is Your nameLift up your heads, all the weak and the poor
The Lord is at hand and His kingdom is yoursLift up your hearts, all who suffer and mourn
The Lord is at hand and His kingdom is yoursLift up your eyes, all who hunger for more
The Lord is at hand and His kingdom is yoursLift up a shout, let the earth hear your voice
The Lord is at hand and His kingdom is yoursI will build my life upon Your love
It is a firm foundation
I will put my trust in You alone
And I will not be shaken
Scripture Reading
Isaiah 65:1-8
1 Thus says the Lord:
Maintain justice, and do what is right,
for soon my salvation will come
and my deliverance be revealed.2 Happy is the mortal who does this,
the one who holds it fast,
who keeps the Sabbath, not profaning it,
and refrains from doing any evil.3 Do not let the foreigner joined to the Lord say,
“The Lord will surely separate me from his people,”
and do not let the eunuch say, “I am just a dry tree.”4 For thus says the Lord:
To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths,
who choose the things that please me
and hold fast my covenant,5 I will give, in my house and within my walls,
a monument and a name
better than sons and daughters;
I will give them an everlasting name
that shall not be cut off.6 And the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord,
to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord,
and to be his servants,
all who keep the Sabbath and do not profane it
and hold fast my covenant—7 these I will bring to my holy mountain
and make them joyful in my house of prayer;
their burnt offerings and their sacrifices
will be accepted on my altar,
for my house shall be called a house of prayer
for all peoples.8 Thus says the Lord God,
who gathers the outcasts of Israel:
I will gather others to them
besides those already gathered.Reader: This is the Word of the Lord.
Together: Thanks be to God.

Dreaming Together
Pastor Dan
Conversation question:
- What do you think might be the dream of God for Anchor & Hope in the next 3 years or so? The next 20 years? 50 years?
- (Imagine yourself at that point of your life and think, what would you be so proud of our church accomplishing at that point?)
- Reminder: The dream of God is never meant to be only for ourselves — it’s always meant to be for the good of the world

Open Up (reprise)
May Your love
Cause us to open up
Cause us to open up our heartsMay Your light
Cause us to shine so bright
That we bring hope into the darkAll that we do without love
It means nothing
Grant us the courage to give
As You’re callingMake me an instrument
Of Your peace
Where there is hatred
Let me sow loveWhere there is darkness
Let me shine light and . . .Hope for the hopeless
Your love is
Strength in our weakness
Your love is
Benediction
